Nuclear Safety Engineer — Specialist

Pantex Plant • 2021 – Present

Conduct hazard and accident analyses for nuclear explosive operations, identify and develop safety class and safety significant controls, and ensure compliance with 10 CFR 830 and alignment with DOE orders, standards, and guides. Perform USQDs to approve proposed changes to nuclear explosive operations and nuclear facilities.

A company partnered with Microsoft and Mojang which produces content for the Minecraft Marketplace. Developed and/or managed development of over 300 projects.

In nuclear work, “good enough” doesn’t exist. You learn to be explicit about assumptions, design for failure modes, and build requirements that remain understandable under pressure. Excellence is not just a desirable trait, it is a necessity.
